About the life of Alfred Bylandt is not that much known, he was born in 1829 in Brussels, then capital of the Southern Netherlands and that he painted alongside his position as Chamberlain of the King. He was, among other chamberlain of King William III Besides his work in royal circles, he was active as a landscape painter. Few of his works known. He traveled a lot, seen a number of Swiss and Italian landscapes of his hand, and lived alternately in Brussels and Holland. He also painted in the area of Arnhem. He died in 1890 as Count van Bylandt Close relatives: Son of Willem Frederik van Bylandt and Aspasia Virginia Frederika W. Craan
